Oregon Military Uniform Display
August 7, 2022 - August 14, 2022
Salem is home to a vast and valuable collection of military uniforms, some of which are currently on display at the Oregon State Capitol.
The collection was started more than 25 years ago by H.A. “Mac” MacDonald, a retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel who served during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
MacDonald was working as a lobbyist for various veterans’ organizations when he was asked if he knew anyone who would be interested in an unwanted military uniform. MacDonald was, and from that single donation grew a collection that today has nearly 1,500 uniforms.
You may have seen past exhibits at the Capitol, or perhaps at the Marion County or state fairs. But what you might not know is that every exhibit is different.
CHG events sponsored by the Oregon State Capitol Foundation, a non-profit 501c3 organization.
